Stoneworks Specialist Intl., Corp. Turns over the M/B Vicente D to the Pasig River Ferry Service

Updated: Apr 7, 2021

The Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) has one more ferry boat to add to its fleet to further increase ridership amid limited public transportation as the implementation of general community quarantine in Metro Manila continues. On March 4, 2021, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) under the leadership of Chairman Benhur Abalos accepted the M/B Vicente D. donated by New San Jose Builders Inc at the Pasig River Ferry Terminal - Guadalupe in a turn-over ceremony. MMDA Chief Benhur Abalos expressed his gratefulness to the NSJBI, headed by its Chairman Jose Acuzar, for the donation that he said is “expected to augment the shortage of ferry boats for our day-to-day operations.”

The M/B Vicente D. ferry boat is a 13m Fiberglass boat made by Stoneworks Specialist - Proudly Filipino Boat Builder from Cavite. It can carry up to 57 passengers with a minimum of 50 passengers and is powered by a 376HP Inboard Diesel Engine with the speed of 16knots @ 2800rpm. The boat is also fully air-conditioned and will be supplementing the already 11 boats currently serving the Pasig - Escolta River Ferry.

In compliance with our current President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to enhance the PRFS, the MMDA refurbished 11 ferry stations from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig to Escolta in Manila and relaunched the service last December 2019 by offering free rides to passengers as an alternative means of transportation. However, operations have been paused due to the pandemic but the PRFS resumed its operations last August 2020 to help meet the transport needs of medical frontliners, government employees, and other authorized persons of allowed industries and business establishments and is now open to the public.

The Pasig River Ferry Service, operated by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, is the only water-based transportation in Metro Manila that cruises the Pasig River from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City to Escolta in Manila City. See the list of schedules below:
