Mutya Ng Pasig
Stoneworks Specialist International Corporation (SSIC)prides itself on building solutions for the government and private business altogether. With over 25 years of experience in composite solutions such as boat building, the Pasig City Government has entrusted SSIC to deliver two ferry boats which were turned over to Pasig City in November 2019. The boats were named M/B Mutya ng Pasig 1 and 2.
Headed by Mayor Vico Sotto, Pasig City is working in partnership with the Metro Manila Development Authority(MMDA) to include these two new ferry boats in its Pasig River ferry route.The multi-city ferry system covers 11 terminals:
Pinagbuhatan, and San Joaquin in Pasig City;
Guadalupe, and Valenzuela in Makati City;
Hulo in Mandaluyong City
and PUP Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, Lambingan, Lawton, Escolta, and Plaza Mexico in Manila.
The fare ranges between P28 to P95. It is estimated to cut travel time from Guadalupe to Lawton from 3 hours to just 45 minutes from which Mayor Vico stressed will improve commuting time and increase the mobility of its citizens.
One of the biggest challenges to the Pasig River Ferry system is the water lilies. When the ferries pass through, the water lilies wrap around the propeller and eventually damage the gearbox.This has knocked a few of the MMDA ferries offline and there have been delays in getting replacement parts due to procurement bureaucracy.There are daily efforts to remove the water lilies using special skimmer boats that are used for this purpose. After the water lilies are removed, the next step is deciding what to do with them because apparently the stalks hold a lot of pollutants.
Stonework’s Mutya ng Pasig ferry boats have the biggest passenger capacity being able to ferry as many as 57 passengers at a time. This is more than what other ferry boats plying the Pasig river route can normally accommodate. The Mutya ng Pasig is a 13-meter fiberglass passenger boat equipped with two 240HP Yanmar V-Drive diesel engines. It has a built-in toilet and is equipped with four CCTV cameras for security. It also has many built-in fans to keep passengers cool and comfortable.
Free WiFi access is available in all the ferry stations. You will find below a list of the stations and their locations. If you are interested to know more on how Stoneworks can help you with your project, give us a call at (02) 8664 8370 or email .
